Solidarity is a key component to our ability to effectively represent our members. Throughout the year the UCATS Executive Council (EC) participates in solidarity actions to support UCATS members in your area, in other NYU colleges/administrative units and beyond our own union to support other unions in the NYC area, such as the CWA workers who are on strike against Verizon, the Professional Staff Congress (PSC) our sister NYSUT local that represents faculty/staff at CUNY who have not had a contract or a raise in six years, and the UAW locals that represent NYU adjunct faculty and graduate teaching assistants. If we want our brothers and sisters from other unions to support us, we have to support them. Solidarity actions can involve spending some time at a rally or on a picket line but it can also be as simple as signing a petition or wearing a button, which takes no time at all. If you would like to be notified when UCATS will be participating in a solidarity action, call the union office at 646-602-1485 and we will add you to our Activist Team contact list.
